What is a Legal Nurse Consultant (LNC)?
A Legal Nurse Consultant is an experienced, licensed registered nurse who specializes
in the analysis of medical and health care facts and issues in a variety of different
settings.
Why should I use a Legal Nurse Consultant?
Whether you are a sole practitioner, an attorney with a large firm, a claims
administrator, an insurance or fraud investigator or even a mediator, a thorough
understanding of the medical and health care facts and issues and how they apply
to your case is essential. A Legal Nurse Consultant is a valuable, cost-effective
and time-efficient resource for anyone that is required to read, interpret,
analyze and apply medical and health care information to a claim.
Do Legal Nurse Consultants only read medical records?
Legal Nurse Consultants provide a variety of services. Reading and summarizing
medical records is only one. They can assist in all areas of case management
including discovery, depositions, ADR and trial.
What is a Legal Nurse Consultant Certified (LNCC)?
A certified Legal Nurse Consultant is a registered nurse who has demonstrated
not only a background in nursing, but also experience, education, and involvement
in the specialty practice area of legal nurse consulting. Certification is granted
by examination to registered nurses with at least 2,000 hours of current practice
as a legal nurse and identifies professionals who have achieved defined levels
of knowledge, experience and education in the medical legal system. The American
Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board administers the examination and is
a member of the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS).
